INSEDA a national level NGO working in renewable energy and other low carbon, affordable green technologies, as well as the climate smart eco-village development (EVD) programme, taking villages as the smallest unit for viable and sustainable development, also focusing on the livelihood, since 1995. However, in 2007– 2008 INSEDA decided to get involved in carbon credit project of household biogas plants for getting certificate for VER (Verified Emission Reduction) by the Gold Standard Foundation (GSF). Since INSEDA is a non-profit NGO, whereas the carbon credit projects involve buying the credit from the biogas plant owners (through our local NGO partners), who are mainly the smaller and marginalized farmers .We bundle them to make them as viable projects, and then sell the projects to interested companies and parties, therefore we decided to form a sister company, by the name “INSEDA Engineers and Consultants Private Limited” which was incorporated as a company on September 17, 2009 under the Indian Companies Act of 1956. The major focus of the company (INSEDA Engineers and Consultants) is carbon credit projects mainly in Madhya Pradesh, Kerala and Uttarakhand. We are in the process of developing a new project for household biogas plants involving Chhattisgarh, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh state, with a combination of existing and new biogas units. INSEDA Engineers is at present also exploring the carbon offset project from mangroves plantation in the coastal areas of In Odisha. INSEDA Engineers also has a project on health as well as in selling of commodities grown by the local farmers mainly women farmers in our own project area in the sub-mountainous region of Uttarakhand state, as well as other items like wild honey and spices etc., from our local grassroots NGO partners from other states in India. The health program is aimed to provide “Sustainable Health for All” through alternate health systems such as magnet therapy, yoga, seed therapy, color therapy, and naturopathy. This program also empowers people through training them under the “Health in Your Hands” module.
