Dr. Raymond Myles is an engineer by profession and is the founder Secretary General-cum-Chief Executive of INSEDA (Integrated Sustainable Energy and Ecological Development Association), which is a National NGO. He is also the founder Chairman-cum-Managing Director of INSEDA Engineers and Consultants Private Limited, which was formed as the sister company of INSEDA (NGO) to undertake commercial oriented projects and programmes.
Dr. Raymond Myles has been involved in the promotion of Renewable Energy Technologies (RETs) for over 40 years, involving NGO partners/networks of INSEDA. For over two decades, he has been involved in the promotion, implementation of Eco Village Development (EVD), as well as environment and climate change related projects and programmes. For the past about 20 years, he has been involved in the innovation, design, development, promotion, capacity building and implementation of low carbon, pro-poor, affordable, green technologies using bamboo as the key building material, for application in rural India.
He is also one of the founder members of the INFORSE (International Network of Sustainable Energy) which was formed by NGOs from different countries during the Earth Summit organised in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992 and has been its Regional Coordinator for South Asia since its formation in 1992. In 2015, INSEDA (NGO) was registered with United Nation’s Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) as observer organization and he has been the designated National Focal Point on behalf of the organisation. Dr. Raymond Myles was the technical team leader that designed and developed the Deenbandhu model household biogas plant, approved by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Govt of India (GoI) which is currently being implemented under its National Biogas and Manure Programme (NBMMP). Deenbandhu biogas plant is at present the most popular plant under the NBMMP of the MNRE (GoI). Since 2007-2008, he has been actively involved in three different biogas plant carbon credit projects of INSEDA (NGO)/INSEDA Engr (Company), certified by the Gold Standard Foundation as Verified Emission Reduction (VER) projects.
